Artist Statement
My identity as a Black New Orleanian plays a crucial role in the development of my photography. My goal is to develop work that embodies both resilience and strength but also reclamation. I find myself (as a photographer) constantly reclaiming space, time, and stories that are often forgotten in post-Katrina New Orleans.
My work lives in the humanity and culture in which I thrive. By connecting those elements, photography allows me to place my narrative directly into the world. It gives me space to have dialogue with others, interweaving personal narratives into the larger human continuum.
